Finding the right wedding venue can be difficult, especially if you're looking for an indoor wedding. There are many different options to choose from and each has its own pros and cons. In this post, we will discuss four of the most popular types of indoor wedding venues: family homes, courthouses, churches, and historical buildings.
For some, there's no happier place than the home they grew up in, which makes it a special place to have a wedding. There are many advantages to having a wedding at a family home, but it's not for everyone. Here are some of the pros and cons:
The wedding will be in an environment you're familiar with which might make guests feel more comfortable as well. It will also save you the cost of booking a private venue, and you won't have to worry about is the hassle of trying to get ready and make sure your transportation requirements for going back and forth are met.
When you host a wedding at home, the weather and time of year don't matter! However, there is stress that comes with transforming your house into an event space, and you will restricted on the number of guests you invite as your home can only hold so many people comfortably.
You will also need to consider the parking situation in your neighborhood and how vendors and caterers will be coming in and out of your home.
Nothing says marriage like a legal proceeding. Why not make it more personable? Most mayors and wedding officiants are able to perform within the court house outside of the standing judge, so look for someone from the "outside" who can add some warmth to your courthouse ceremony!
There's usually an option to rent or reserve a room outside of the formal courtroom space in order to have a ceremony without interruption from other patrons. Additionally, filing your marriage license at the courthouse can be done on site right then, saving time and eliminating hassle!
A downside of courthouse weddings is that there are restrictions on how much you can decorate. Judge Judy doesn't want her building to overflow with streamers and candles. You will also have to do most of your celebrating at another location because you won't be able to have your reception there.
Probably the most commonly considered location, but whether you are religious or not, churches can serve as beautiful indoor wedding venues. Churches tend to have an air of elegance with classic details. Inside, you'll find the space is often well suited for accommodating a large number of guests. A church may also be a great choice if it holds religious significance to you and your partner as well.
The downside to this venue type is that churches don't allow alcohol may not allow dancing at the wedding.
This one is often overlooked, but well-maintained historical buildings can provide a gorgeous and classic backdrop for your indoor wedding.
Some things you will need to take care of with type of venue are finding a wedding officiant, arranging parking and transportation for guests, making sure your caterer has permission to use the building's kitchen facilities (if it has them), and creating decorations that fit with the building's style.
This can also be a more expensive option than the others listed here.
No matter which type of indoor venue you choose for your special day, it's sure to be an event to remember!
